Tottenham have launched a bid for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been speaking with Roma director Franco Baldini for some months about the young Italy international.
And Tuttosport says Levy has now acted by tabling an opening bid.
Spurs have offered 20m cash plus Toby Alderweireld in exchange for Zaniolo, with Levy rating the midfielder at 45m.
However, Roma are likely to demand more, despite Zaniolo's form slide after Christmas.
