Ziana Zain, Jalaludin Hasan, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar use back door to enter MACC office

THREE celebrities arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Putrajaya to have their statements recorded to assist in the investigation of a corruption and money laundering case involving a financial consulting firm.

Quoting sources, Berita Harian reported that the trio were Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan, Siti Roziana Zain, better known as Ziana Zain, and national astronaut, Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie Sheikh Mustapha.

The three celebrities arrived at the MACC office at 9:30 am and were allowed to enter through the back door of the office.

Yesterday, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the three individuals are expected at the MACC Headquarters at 10 am.

He said that the MACC will record the statements of the three celebrities to assist in the investigation.

He said that all three of them are not considered suspects and their statements are needed to complete the investigation report.

Earlier investigations found that the celebrities and artists involved received payments of up to RM400,000 over a period of one to two years as ambassadors for the company for promotional purposes.

The MACC recently dismantled corruption and money laundering activities involving financial consulting firms and bank officers in several financial institutions through Op Sky.

A total of 12 individuals were arrested in a raid by the MACC's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Division in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) at 24 locations, including residences and offices around the Klang Valley last Monday.

So far, 27 individuals have been detained, including 18 bank officers, eight employees of the involved financial consulting company, and a civilian. – February 6, 2025
