In the Islamic (Hijriah) calendar, Zulhijjah marks the final month of the year. It is a month where Muslims are thankful to have experienced another year. But it is also a time most blessed by Allah SWT (the Almighty). This is especially true for the first 10 days of Zulhijjah month, Muslims around the world increase in worship towards our Allah SWT. We also prepare for two important events: Hajj, the fifth (5th) pillar of Islam, and Hari Raya Haji or Eid al-Adha, the “festival of sacrifice”. Similar to the Holy month of Ramadan, the first 10 days of Zulhijjah are an extremely blessed time. In Quran, Allah SWT swears an oath of rewards saying that “By the dawn and by the ten nights.” (Surah Al-Fajr, 89:1-2)

As such, many Muslims devote the first 10 days of Zulhijjah to incease their thoughts in rememberance of Allah SWT. This year, the 1st day of Zulhijjah falls on 29th May, 2025. Muslims who are able to perform pilgrimage in Makkah have to do it & fulfill Hajj once in their lifetime. One who sincerely performs and completes Hajj, Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, “An accepted Hajj brings no less a reward than Paradise.”

Whilst enjoying an exceptional Thai dining experience, we engaged in conversations recalling our solemn Hajj pilgimage experiences. Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah, holds immense significance for Muslims, representing a deeply spiritual and communal experience. It is one of the five pillars of Islam, an obligatory duty for all adults Muslims who are physically and financially capable. (https://www.tabunghaji.gov.my)
