SANDAKAN: The Sabah Forestry Department is now led by Zulkifli Suara, who officially assumed duties as Chief Conservator of Forests, at a mandate and handover ceremony Tuesday at the department’s headquarters here.

The ceremony saw former Sabah Chief Conservator of Forests, Datuk Frederick Kugan, handing over the official note of duty to Zulkifli, marking a smooth and orderly leadership transition.

In his final address, Frederick expressed appreciation to the department’s staff for their support, cooperation and commitment throughout his six years leading the department.

He said the achievements recorded during his tenure were the result of collective efforts at all levels, from top management to field personnel involved in managing the State’s forest resources.

In his maiden address, Zulkifli expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him to lead the department.

He called on all staff to strengthen their commitment to sustainable forest management while enhancing governance and integrity in managing Sabah’s forest resources.

Zulkifli also recorded his appreciation to Frederick for his 39 years of service with the department and his contributions to advancing the State’s forestry sector at national and international levels.
