- Beard died Tuesday while in hospice care at his ranch in Richmond, Texas, surrounded by family members, as confirmed by publicist Bob Merlis.
- ZZ Top co-founder Billy Gibbons honored Beard as a naturally innovative drummer and confirmed that the band will continue to perform and tour as Beard had wished. However, the band has canceled its shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs following Beard’s death.
