不少人为了挑战金氏世界纪录，会产生一些奇特的想法。在非洲奈及利亚就有一名男子异想天开，在社群上发起"哭泣马拉松"，他为了破纪录哭了整整1周，身体后续变化让他相当不适，甚至还一度出现失明。
根据《纽约时报》报导，埃贝尔（Tembu Ebere）在TikTok上发起哭泣马拉松挑战，一整周下来他不断哭泣，长时间导致埃贝尔出现而眼睛浮肿、脸部肿胀与头痛的情况，长时间哭泣造成眼压过高，导致他出现失明，时间长达45分钟。
不过，面对不适他似乎不想放弃，甚至表示将"重新制定"策略，必须少哭一点，避免身体出现其他症状。藉此完成这项纪录，尽管他还没有向相关单位申请进行申请。埃贝尔的疯狂影片曝光后，也引发热议，不少人纷纷留言"当发现钱用完的时候"、"好像早上邻居的机车声"、"他一定经历过很多痛苦时刻"、"当星期一到来的时候"。
