事實上《將》劇改編自人氣小說，自去年宣布影視化後，傳聞主角人選頻頻更換，男主從肖戰、吳磊傳至檀健次，女主人選亦傳遍迪麗熱巴、宋祖兒、虞書欣及趙露思等，隨後有消息指男女主演分別是王鶴棣及孟子義，引起男方粉絲不滿.
其後援會更曾發起聯合聲明指“永拒孟子義出演”，如今則傳出“王鶴棣在粉絲爭取下退出項目”，對此後援會否認抵制是退出主因，又指劇方從未官宣主演名單，質疑傳聞真實性。而劇集製作方及王鶴棣工作室等有關單位，都未就傳言作出回應.
