Najib Razak, 1MDB, Anwar Ibrahim, DAP and UMNO—Awtar Singh returns to TheGoodCastShow for a fiery debate on Malaysian politics, political accountability and whether leaders are delivering for ordinary Malaysians.
Should Najib return to politics? Why raise RM50 million for a political leader while families and small businesses struggle? And are Malaysia’s political parties applying the same standards to their allies and opponents?
Host Vinodh Rajendran challenges Awtar Singh on his defence of Najib Razak, responsibility for the 1MDB scandal and SRC International case, and his criticism of Pakatan Harapan. The conversation explores Najib’s pardon and the house arrest debate, Anthony Loke and DAP’s resignation stance, and the tension between political loyalty and accountability.
Awtar also recounts being arrested during a protest supporting Anwar Ibrahim in 1999, explains how his views changed, and discusses his departure from the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC).
From Reformasi and unfulfilled reform promises to the cost of living, freedom of speech and social media censorship, this interview asks a question that cuts across party lines: who is standing up for the people?
