A Stroke Survivor's Journey to Conquering the Escalator

For an ordinary, healthy person, stepping onto an escalator is second nature-something done without a second thought. But for a stroke survivor, it's an entirely different story.
The moving steps, the need for balance, the falling-it all adds up to a daunting challenge. For me, it took two and a half years to build the courage to finally use an escalator again. The fear wasn't just in my mind, my body wasn't the same as before. My balance was different, my reflexes slower, and the confidence I once had in my own movements was gone.
Over time, through therapy, practice, and sheer determination, I reached a point where I could take that step. It wasn't just about using an escalator, it was about reclaiming a piece of my independence.
To some, this might seem like nothing special. But to a stroke survivor, small victories like this mean everything. They remind us that progress is possible, no matter how slow.
