#CNY2025: Experience the Chinese New Year Blessings at Guangzhou's Ancient Buddhist Sanctuary (Dafo Temple)

In this video, we'll take a walk around the grounds of the Dafo Temple, a renowned Buddhist temple in Guangdong province with history of more than 1000 years. During Chinese New Year, thousands of worshippers and visitors flock to this sacred site, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with the sweet scent of incense and the gentle chiming of temple bells. The temple grounds come alive with festive red lanterns, elaborate flower arrangements featuring lucky mandarin oranges and peach blossoms, and long rows of traditional red banners bearing auspicious New Year couplets (春联). Located in the Yuexiu District of Guangzhou, the Dafo Temple (Chinese: 大佛寺 lit. "Big Buddha Temple" or "Grand Buddha Temple") was first constructed during the Five Dynasties & Ten Kingdoms period (907–979) . The modern variation of the temple is the grandest it has ever been & is especially beautiful at night when all the lights come on.
