Opinion: AirBnB And Overtourism - Is It A Good Thing ?

Question : What does the Post-Covid World look like ? 🤔

Answer : Over-tourism. ☹️

Over-tourism is the new BUZZWORD in popular destinations like Europe, Japan and Thailand, which are imposing heavy tourism and airport taxes, as well as limiting tourists.

Why now ? What's driving this 'over-tourism' ?

The answer is, cheaper accommodation via Online Portals like AIRBNB, which allows RESIDENTIAL homes to be listed like a hotel.

Many countries are now taking steps to delist Airbnb listings and illegal homestays in order to stop overcrowding, congestion and ecological disasters like floods and pollution. Is Malaysia facing a similar problem ?
