Speaking After Stroke : A New Challenge

After a stroke, speaking in different languages became a challenge for me. It's not like before, where switching between languages was effortless. Now, I've noticed that my ability to speak varies depending on the language.
The easiest for me is Bahasa Malaysia, followed by English. Cantonese comes next, and the hardest for me is Mandarin. Sometimes, words just don't come out as smoothly as they used to, and forming sentences takes more effort.
But I've learned that practice is key. The more I speak, the more I improve. It's not just about knowing the words, it's about training my brain and muscles to work together again. So even though it's tough, I keep trying. Every conversation, every small progress, is a step forward.
To all stroke survivors facing the same struggle, don't give up. Keep speaking, keep practicing. We may not be the same as before, but we can still move forward, one word at a time.
