The Kayin Association Choir of Kuala Lumpur

A Choir That Carries the Echo of Home

Every great river begins with a single spring. Founded in 1898, the Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Kayin (嘉应)Association on Sultan Street became a sturdy banyan tree, sheltering generations of Hakka pioneers. It was a lighthouse that guided homesick hearts.

In 1971, the Women's Section planted another seed—the Kayin Association Choir. That tiny seed blossomed into a flourishing garden of voices.

The Choir is more than a group of singers. It is a bridge linking generations, where every Hakka folk song is a root, every singer a leaf, and every concert a flower blooming with heritage. From anniversary celebrations to charity concerts and cultural exchanges, the Choir has carried Hakka culture on the wings of music.

Today, the Choir is a torch that keeps our heritage alive. One voice creates a melody, but many voices singing as one create a legacy that time can never silence.
