The Puerto Princesa Underground River

The Puerto Princesa Underground River, also known as the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, is one of the world’s most remarkable natural wonders. Located near Puerto Princesa, this UNESCO World Heritage Site features a navigable river that flows directly beneath a limestone karst mountain before emptying into the sea. Visitors explore the cave by boat, guided through vast chambers filled with impressive stalactites, stalagmites, and unique rock formations shaped over millions of years. The park is also home to diverse wildlife, including bats, monkeys, and exotic birds. Carefully managed tourism ensures preservation of the ecosystem while allowing travellers to experience its beauty. Combining adventure, geology, and biodiversity, the underground river is a must-visit destination in the Philippines.
