π Transport Minister Anthony Loke called for an emergency meeting to be held on Monday morning after a baggage handling system breakdown at KLIA 1 caused delays of up to 4 hours for many arriving passengers on Saturday (18 April).
β’ "While the system was restored the same evening, a technical restoration does not close the matter. Passengers who travel through our national gateway deserve a standard of service reliability that this incident has clearly failed to meet," he said.
β’ Loke said that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) will investigate the incident and examine whether punitive action against Malaysia Airports Holdings (MAHB) is warranted.
β’ βMAHB, as the operator of KLIA, will be held accountable for this breakdown. A national gateway cannot afford repeated lapses of this nature.. We cannot realise our aspiration of being among the world's best airports without first inculcating a genuine culture of accountability," the minister added.
