Malaysia has removed the indoor mask mandate, which means it is no longer fully compulsory for people to wear masks indoors, except in selected venues.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin confirmed this today.
Masks are still required on public transport including airplanes, and healthcare facilities.
“KKM still strongly encourages the public to wear masks, especially in crowded areas,” Khairy said in today’s press conference.
Today I announced face masks indoors will be optional effective immediately. However, it’s still mandatory in all health care facilities (hospitals, clinics, nursing homes etc) and in public transport. High-risk individuals encouraged to keep their masks on.

For other indoor venues, masks are now optional and premise owners may decide on whether they require customers to wear masks or not.
