BARISAN Nasional (BN) has declared victory in the Johor state election after unofficial results showed the coalition had secured enough seats to form the next state government.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that BN had won 31 of the 56 seats contested, giving the coalition a simple majority in the state assembly.
The outcome paves the way for BN to retain control of Johor for another term, although the results remain unofficial pending confirmation by the Election Commission (EC).
The coalition crossed the 29-seat threshold required to form the state government as vote counting continued on Saturday night, with several constituencies still awaiting official declaration. - July 11, 2026
