JOHOR BAHRU – The results of the Johor state election will serve as a guide for Pakatan Harapan (PH) to refine its strategy ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election, which is scheduled to take place in about three weeks.

Johor PH state election machinery director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the coalition would conduct a comprehensive review of voting patterns and factors influencing the Johor election results before formulating a more effective approach.

He said PH would return to its “war room” to identify weaknesses, issues that emerged and restructure its strategy ahead of the upcoming election.

“Our expectation is to retain the administration under Pakatan Harapan in Negeri Sembilan. We have a good track record in governance and are confident that Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun can continue leading the state administration.

“We will reassess the Johor results to strengthen our efforts in Negeri Sembilan. Tomorrow, I will discuss the candidates, especially those from PKR, and on July 14, the list of PH candidates is expected to be announced,” he said during a press conference at the PH Information Centre in Skudai.

He said PH would also review each polling stream and locality to understand changes in support patterns and adjust its strategy for the Negeri Sembilan state election.

The 16th Negeri Sembilan state election has been set for Aug 1, 2026, with nomination day on July 18, 2026. The election will see all 36 State Legislative Assembly seats contested.

In the August 2023 state election, BN-Umno won 14 seats, while Perikatan Nasional secured five seats.

PH won 17 seats, comprising 11 seats won by DAP, five by Parti Keadilan Rakyat and one by Parti Amanah Negara.
