SHAH ALAM – Barisan Nasional (BN) leads in several constituencies contested by DAP in the 16th Johor state election, according to unofficial results published on DAP's website on Saturday evening.
As of 6.15pm, the website indicated BN was ahead in nine of the 17 seats contested by DAP.
The constituencies listed were Jementah, Bekok, Tangkak, Bentayan, Yong Peng, Mengkibol, Paloh, Johor Jaya, Perling, Bukit Permai and Pekan Nenas.
Earlier, on June 1, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly, paving the way for the state's 16th election.

In the previous Johor state election held in March 2022, BN formed the state government after securing 40 of the 56 State Legislative Assembly seats.
Meanwhile, voter turnout reached 63.13 per cent as of 4pm on Saturday. Election Commission (EC) figures showed that 1,693,625 of the 2,682,642 registered voters had cast their ballots.
The Semarang state constituency recorded the highest turnout at 72.6 per cent, followed by Sri Medan with 71.6 per cent and Sedili with 70.5 per cent.
