New Balance have lodged their appeal against the court ruling over their kit deal with Liverpool.

The sportswear giant lost their case at the high court last week as Liverpool were cleared to take up a new agreement with Nike, says the Mirror.

Liverpool had already made plans to ditch their seven-year partnership at the end of the season, as they confirmed terms on Nike's mega-money offer.

However New Balance fought to fend off the approach, citing a clause in their current contract with Liverpool which allowed them to match any bids from other potential sponsors.

New Balance have now filed the relevant forms after having an initial request for permission to appeal rejected by judge Mr Justice Nigel Teare.

The decision now rests with the Court of Appeal as to whether to reopen the case for a hearing.
