Harvey Barnes is setting himself a challenge of improving his goals and assists tallies.

The winger scored for his side against Sheffield United, his half volley helping Leicester to a hard fought 2-1 win.

Now the 21-year-old wants to take the next step in terms of his contribution to the team throughout the season.

"Everyone has their own personal aims but my main goal is to make sure I'm getting as many games as possible, and to make sure my stats, my goals and assists, are up there this season," said Barnes to reporters.

"For me, each time I get set a challenge, it's on me to match that and go past that. The Premier League's a step up from the Championship last year, and obviously I had the back end of last year in the Premier League.

"This year, for me, stats-wise I've got to be a lot higher. That challenge is something I'm more than happy to be given.

"It's difficult (to start) with the squad we've got this year. It's a great squad and we've got a lot of depth.

"For me, when I get my chance, I need to take it. I want to be playing as many games as I can and having an impact on the team when I do."
