SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) has submitted a proposal to increase the People’s Housing Programme (PPR) units here.

Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Suhaimi Nasir said the proposed addition of PPR units was in Batu Putih PPR and Taman Harmoni PPR.

“Both of these PPRs are proposed to be implemented for phase two with 500 additional units in Batu Putih with an area of 15 acres and another 500 units in Taman Harmoni with an area of 10 acres,” he said. Suhaimi, who is Libaran Member of Parliament, said the proposal had been submitted to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP).

“Currently, the KKTP has also submitted the proposal to the Ministry for approval,” he added in response to an answer from Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun at the State Legislative Assembly.

Previously, he raised a question regarding the KKTP’s plans to build PPR in Sabah, especially in Sandakan.

Suhaimi was told that there were five more PPRs still in various stages of development involving 2,598 units.

“There are nine PPR projects in Sandakan with a total of 6,080 units,” he said.
