PENAMPANG: A total of 1,200 school bags were distributed to eight schools in Kapayan, providing students with the necessary support to begin their studies with tremendous enthusiasm and readiness.

Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang said in a statement that this commitment to ensuring a better start to the school year for students has been reinforced through the collaboration between the ADUN Kapayan office and Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR).

“This initiative is not merely an act of giving children from B40 families but an investment in the education of the younger generation,” she said.

Jannie expressed her appreciation to Yayasan Bank Rakyat for its unwavering support of education and to all teachers and parents who continuously strive to provide the best opportunities for their children.

In addition to the school bag distribution, YBR has also allocated funds to sponsor free haircuts for 500 students. This initiative will be carried out between March 12 and March 26 at five barber shops in Penampang.

YBR Chairman, Datuk Philip Lasimbang also attended the ceremony and praised ADUN Kapayan’s consistent effort to assist communities in Penampang.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of cheques to four NGOs totaling RM30,000 from Jannie’s Sentuhan Kasih fund.

The recipients were Sabah Kinabalu Pink Ribbon, Which Supports breast cancer patients; Sabah Society for the Deaf, Which Advocates for the rights of the hearing-impaired; Seri Mengasih Center, Which Provides special education for children with disabilities; and Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti, Which Assists individuals with disabilities in achieving independence.

These contributions serve as a recognition of these organizations’ vital role in supporting those in need.

Jannie said efforts to bring more benefits to the people of Kapayan will continue. Still, such initiatives require the collective support of all stakeholders.

She hoped ongoing cooperation would further strengthen community development and assist more people.
