KUDAT: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Kudat Maritime Zone arrested 10 undocumented migrants suspected of immigration offences eight nautical miles northwest of Tanjung Simpang Mengayau on Saturday.

The detention followed alerts from the Sabah Sea Surveillance System and swift action by MMEA patrol vessels.

Kudat Maritime Zone Director Hasbullah Omar said the boat had no registration number, and none of the individuals aboard could produce valid identification.

He added that patrols and enforcement along Sabah’s maritime borders will be intensified to combat smuggling and illegal immigration.

Hasbullah also warned the public against assisting maritime crimes and urged anyone with information to contact the Kudat Maritime Zone Operations Centre at 088-611858 or emergency line 999.
