The feat was undertaken during the Corps’ nationwide “Wheels of Valour: Sanchar Shakti” motorcycle expedition, which reached Palchan on June 30.

The Corps of Signals’ renowned motorcycle display team, the Dare Devils, attempted to create a new world record by carrying 10 riders on just two motorcycles through the 9.8-km-long Atal Tunnel near Manali on July 1.

The feat was undertaken during the Corps’ nationwide “Wheels of Valour: Sanchar Shakti” motorcycle expedition, which reached Palchan on June 30. Located beneath the Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh, the Atal Tunnel is the world’s longest highway tunnel above an altitude of 10,000 feet, making the attempt particularly challenging.

According to a defence spokesperson, the 10 riders covered the entire length of the tunnel in 9 minutes and 47.97 seconds at an altitude of 10,075 feet. Executed under demanding high-altitude conditions, the attempt required exceptional riding skills, balance, endurance, precision and flawless teamwork, reflecting the highest standards of military professionalism.

The record attempt is part of a series of challenging feats planned by the Corps of Signals Dare Devils Team to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas. Following months of intensive training, rehearsals and technical preparations, the Atal Tunnel ride marks the first of several world record attempts dedicated to honouring the courage, sacrifice and indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces.

The event was conducted under comprehensive safety arrangements, with all operational and safety protocols strictly followed. The Dare Devils coordinated closely with the district administration, police authorities and road management agencies to ensure the safety of riders, officials, support staff and other road users throughout the event.

Lieutenant General Vivek Dogra, Signal Officer-in-Chief and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Signals, thanked the district administration, Himachal Pradesh Police, the Director General Border Roads, Project Yojak, Project Deepak and the 38 Border Roads Task Force of the Border Roads Organisation for their meticulous planning, cooperation and support in the successful conduct of the world record attempt.
