The Haryana Government has planned to construct a silo (large warehouse) between Shahabad and Ambala to store foodgrain.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed the departments concerned to prepare a detailed plan in this direction.
During a review meeting with officials on Wednesday regarding grain storage and water supply arrangements in the Palwal and Nuh regions, the CM directed officials to identify 100 acres of land between Shahabad and Ambala for constructing a silo within a month.
Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, along with senior officers from several departments, was also present.
It has been further decided that the land be acquired between the railway line and road as required.
Canal-based water supply
CM Saini said a plan should be prepared to provide canal-based water supply in areas currently dependent on tubewells. He said with the development of new industrial zones in Nuh and Palwal in the future, the demand for water would increase significantly.
Officials of the Public Health Department informed that the drinking water was currently being supplied through tubewells in 108 villages of Palwal and Nuh, as well as in Punhana. To maintain groundwater level, the department plans to install seven Ranney wells and boosting stations, at an estimated cost of Rs 765 crore.
