As many as 103 candidates are in the fray for four urban local bodies of Solan district comprising two municipal councils (MCs) and as many nagar panchayats after the scrutiny of the nomination papers on Tuesday. The highest number of 32 candidates will contest the seven seats of the Kandaghat Nagar Panchayat. The BJP-supported candidates had bagged six of the seven seats in the last elections held in 2021.
In the Arki Nagar Panchayat, 19 candidates will fight for seven seats. The Congress had secured a majority in the last elections while the BJP had failed to make a mark.
In the Parwanoo Municipal Council, 25 candidates will contest nine seats while in Nalagarh, 27 candidates are in the fray. Both urban local bodies are headed by Congress-supported chairpersons.
