SANDAKAN: Eleven foreigners were arrested on Tuesday during a joint operation for allegedly violating the Immigration Act 1959/63 by failing to produce valid travel documents and overstaying in the country.

The arrests were made during an integrated operation dubbed Ops Poket, led by the Sandakan District Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Immigration Department, Sandakan Municipal Council and the National Registration Department.

Acting Sandakan District Police Chief, Supt. Ramasamy Kuppan said the operation aimed to curb criminal activities and the presence of undocumented migrants, as well as enforce documentation laws and tackle illegal activities in the town centre.
