
SANDAKAN: Eleven illegal immigrants were detained on Tuesday during the integrated operation here for failing to produce valid travel documents and overstaying in the country.
The arrests were made during a joint operation dubbed “Ops Poket”, carried out earlier, led by the Sandakan District Police Headquarters (IPD), in collaboration with the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS), and the National Registration Department (JPN).
Acting Sandakan District Police Chief, Supt Ramasamy Kuppan, said that the strategic cooperation between IPD Sandakan, JIM, MPS, and JPN, aimed at combating criminal activity and addressing the issue of undocumented immigrants as well as enforcing documentation laws and curbing illegal activities in the city.
