ALOR GAJAH - An 11-month-old baby girl died after losing consciousness at her nanny's house, in Ayer Molek, Central Melaka, on Monday morning.
The victim's mother, who only wanted to be identified as Zaidah, 35, said she sent her son at about 7.30am to the babysitter's house, which is not far from her house in Taman Desa Ayer Molek.
However, according to her, while she was working in Sungai Udang, she was contacted by the nanny who told her the baby was unconscious.
"At approximately 11 in the morning, the nanny contacted me to inform me about the incident.
"Because I was still in Sungai Udang at the time, while my husband was also working, I asked the babysitter to immediately take tha baby to Klinik Kesihatan Ayer Molek to get the needed medical care," she said to the reporter at her family house in Kampung Titian Bintangor, Lubok Cina on Monday night.
She said, the Melaka Hospital later confirmed that the baby, who had been cared for by the nanny since she was four months old, had died.
"So far the hospital has not yet confirmed the cause of death and will have to wait for the full report of the autopsy results," she said who was still mourning the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim's father, who refused to be identified, could not comment further because the case is still under police investigation.
"We were accepting of the situation and let the police carry out the investigation first because we don't want to blame any party," he said.
The baby's body was then brought back to his father's village before being buried at Tanah Perkuburan Islam Titian Bintangor at about 10.30pm.
In the meantime, Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit when contacted confirmed the incident and so far the case has been classified as sudden death.
"We are still waiting for the full autopsy report," he said.
