KAJANG - An 11-year-old boy has died while his two younger brothers remain in critical condition after they were allegedly given methadone in an incident in Sungai Ramal Baru here on Wednesday.

The case came to light after the three children were brought to hospital unconscious.

The victim was pronounced dead, while his brothers, aged nine and five, are receiving treatment, with the youngest admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and the other placed in the Red Zone of the Emergency Department.

Police received information about the incident at 9.01am following a report by a medical officer from Hospital Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin (HTPN), which had earlier admitted the three boys at 7.50am for emergency treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the children’s 35-year-old mother is believed to have given them methadone prior to the incident.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar, when contacted, confirmed the case.
