SUBANG JAYA, Oct 3 — The Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) Emergency and Disaster Aid Strategic Operation Plan Workshop 2.0 ahead of the southwest monsoon was joined by 120 participants yesterday.
The two-day workshop, which ends today, was held in collaboration with the MBSJ, police, Fire and Rescue Department, armed forces, Selangor Disaster Management Unit, Civil Defence Force, Social Welfare Department, Petaling Health Department, Petaling Perdana Education Office, and community leaders and representatives.
“The objective of the workshop is to update plans to face the southwest monsoon, document the plan, and distribute it to implementing agencies as reference for when disaster strikes.
“Through this workshop, every agency’s capabilities will be strengthened so they may deliver aid with confidence and efficiency, with the plan as reference,” he said at a press conference after officiating the MBSJ Emergency and Disaster Aid Strategic Operation Plan Workshop 2.0 at the MBSJ Multipurpose Hall, Puchong Indah, here yesterday.

When met at the same event, Seri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Azmi welcomed the cooperation of all parties in organising the workshop.
“However, I suggest that the MBSJ engage with non-governmental organisations, agencies, volunteers and the community to ensure disaster management can be done effectively.
“This way at least, before aid from MBSJ arrives at a disaster site, there are parties such as volunteers who reach first to help victims,” he said.
