Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s daily Covid-19 caseload rose to 123 Monday, bringing the State’s total to 374,464.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the number of districts that recorded a decline in new cases is the same as those with increased cases – six districts respectively.

“Several districts registered a substantial change in the number of new infections, namely Kota Kinabalu (+15), Keningau (+9), Tuaran (+6), Sandakan (-10), Penampang (-8) and Papar (-7),” he said in a statement, Monday.

“The significant change in the daily new cases in Kota Kinabalu which stood at 81 today (Monday) should be noted by all residents around the city.

“Nearly 85.2 per cent of the new infections in Kota Kinabalu today were through sporadic infections.”

Masidi said the Covid-19 infection risk is high in crowded places or during mass gatherings.

He reminded the public to comply with all SOPs to reduce the risk of infection.

On Monday, 16 districts did not register any new cases within the past 24 hours.

Some 121 new cases were in Categories 1 and 2, while another two cases were in Category 4.

Monday’s new cases were detected through contact screenings with 29, symptomatic screenings (87) and other screenings (7).

The State also recorded 100 recoveries – cumulatively 366,829.
