A 12-year-old boy in Kedah suffered a painful injury after a bicycle pedal became lodged in his stomach in an accident at Jalan Charok Bemban, Kampung Charok Sikin.
According to Baling Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil, the station received an emergency call at 5.30pm about the incident.
A team led by Senior Fire Officer II Juhairi Osman and six other personnel was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team found the boy still at the location and in pain,” Zulkhairi said.
Pedal pierced boy’s stomach after fall
According to a report by NST, preliminary invetigation suggested that the boy had fallen from his bicycle, causing the pedal to pierce his stomach.
Firefighters then spent around 40 minutes cutting the pedal from the bicycle using special equipment to prevent excessive bleeding and further internal injuries.
Once freed, the boy was handed over to the Health Ministry for medical treatment and the rescue operation ended at 6.17pm.
