Thirteen areas in Sarawak record unhealthy API readings, with Sri Aman and Serian reaching 180 as air quality concerns persist
KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9 am today, with Sri Aman and Serian District Police Headquarters recording the highest reading of 180.
According to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System portal, other areas that recorded unhealthy readings included Kuching (175), Sibu (171), Sarikei (169), Bintulu (169) and Samarahan (169).
Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Mukah (161), Miri (159), Samalaju (159), Miri Industrial Training Institute (156), Limbang (153) and Kapit (118).
Forty-five other areas nationwide recorded moderate readings, while eight areas recorded good readings.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are hazardous.
