Kota Kinabalu: Thirteen contractors received their appointment letters from Federal Works Minister Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi for 19 work packages of the total of 35 for Phase 1B of the Pan Borneo Highway Project here in an official ceremony witnessed by State Minister of Works Datuk Shahelmy Yahya.

The federal-funded project, at an estimated cost of RM13.989 billion, will involve the construction of a 370km federal road from Kota Belud to Kudat and the upgrading of a federal road from Ranau to Lahad Datu.

The Phase 1B Work Package, which is expected to take 36-48 months to complete, consists of the following four main components : North West Road Link Work Package 11-14 (Kota Belud-Kudat); South East Road Link Work Package 16-20 (Tawau-Lahad Datu); North East Road Link Work Package 22-26 (Lahad Datu-Sandakan) and Central Road Link Work Package 31-35 (Telupid-Ranau).
