MANILA, Philippines — The 14-year-old teen in Cebu who was caught with an unloaded gun brought the firearm to school to threaten his friend’s bullies, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
Barely two days after the fatal school shooting in Ateneo de Zamboanga University last Tuesday, a Grade 9 student was caught with a handgun during a surprise bag inspection at Lut-od National High School in Pinamungajan, Cebu on Thursday afternoon.
The weapon, a.357 Smith and Wesson Magnum revolver, was discovered by a teacher at 3:50 p.m., Cebu police director Col. Abubakar Mangelen Jr. said.
“According to them he has a friend who was bullied, and they wanted to scare him, that's why he brought a weapon,” Col. Allen Rae Co, PNP spokesman, told reporters in a press briefing at Camp Crame.
