
As many as 152 vehicles have been compounded in Nawanshahr. Providing details, Regional Transport Authority Inderpal Singh said that these vehicles have been declared blacklisted under pending recovery cases as part of the ongoing enforcement process to ensure strict compliance with traffic and transport regulations.
He further informed that the office of the RTA has written to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), along with the complete list of blacklisted vehicles, requesting the launch of a special enforcement drive to impound these vehicles under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR).
The RTA further said that public notices carrying the details of blacklisted vehicles and pending recovery defaulters have been prominently displayed at various public places including the RTO office, bus stands, SDM offices, Tehsil complexes and other conspicuous locations to create awareness among vehicle owners. He warned vehicle owners to clear pending dues at the earliest to avoid strict legal action and impounding of their vehicles during the enforcement drive.
Vehicles blacklisted in Hoshiarpur, too
Acting in compliance with the directions issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court Additional Chief Secretary, the Office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Hoshiarpur, has initiated strict action against vehicle owners who failed to deposit pending challan amounts despite repeated notices. As many as 70 vehicles of various types have been blacklisted.
Regional Transport Officer Amandeep Kaur Ghumman stated that the registration numbers of the defaulting vehicles have been blacklisted by the department. Directions have also been issued to all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Regional Transport Officers across the state to identify such vehicles during enforcement drives and impound them if found plying on roads, as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and applicable rules.
The RTO warned that vehicle owners who continue to ignore pending challan payments will not be able to avail any vehicle-related services through the VAHAN Portal until the dues are cleared. The department has urged all concerned owners to immediately deposit the outstanding challan amount to avoid further legal and administrative action.
