A recent enforcement operation in Kuala Lumpur saw several illegal riders, including an underage individual, being detained for multiple traffic offences that could carry fines of up to RM15,000.
According to the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Road Transport Department (JPJ WPKL), the operation was carried out by its Falcon Unit along Jalan Bukit Bintang in the early hours of 5 July.

Among those detained were an 18-year-old foreign national and a 15-year-old underage rider, both of whom were found to be riding recklessly and putting other road users at risk.
Several photos shared by JPJ also showed some of the offenders performing dangerous wheelies on the road.
“The operation focused on reckless and dangerous driving offences under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“As a result of the operation, five vehicles were seized for various offences, including driving without a valid licence, expired road tax (LKM), no insurance, failure to display a registration number, and exhaust modifications that did not comply with approved specifications,” the post read.
JPJ added that under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, offenders can face up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000 for a first offence.
A second conviction carries a heavier penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to RM20,000.
“The operation reflects the Falcon Unit’s commitment to keeping roads safe while raising public awareness about the importance of obeying traffic laws,” JPJ said.
