A teenager’s tragic death in Vietnam has raised alarm over the potential dangers of mishandling acne at home.
A 15-year-old girl in Hanoi reportedly died after squeezing her pimples and applying an unverified topical product to her face.
MS News reported that a statement from Vietnam’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases revealed the girl had developed septic shock caused by Staphylococcus aureus, where he bacterium had entered her body through inflamed acne lesions.
Infection spread to brain and lungs
It was reported that the bacteria rapidly spread throughout her body, damaging both her brain and lungs.
Despite being placed under intensive care, including mechanical ventilation and continuous blood filtration, she did not respond to treatment and later passed away.
No one expected such a simple act to lead to something so devastating.
