Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Exco Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said that the deviant teachings included the Millah Abraham group in the State and its followers were charged last year.

Commenting further, he said the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) and the Sabah State Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) would always work with the police to monitor the movement of deviant teachings.
“We have already published wrong, deviant or misguided teachings of groups in Sabah, which means that there are as many as 16 identified deviant teachings.
“Among them are the teachings of Ilmu Makrifat (Knowing God Yourself) by Mohd Yusuf Cik Wook Yang, Islam Jama’ah, Millah Abraham, Pertubuhan Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin, Qadiani, Syiah, Aliran and Dakyah Wahabiah Black Metal.
“In addition, the teachings that are also banned include the doctrines and teachings of Hizbut Tahrir, the doctrine of liberalism and pluralism according to Islamic views, the movement of the Muhammadiyyah Wahabiyyah and Itba’ Al-Sunnah groups, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the Tal Tujuh group, Bahai teachings, Tariqah Hasaniah and the Al-Arqam group through Rufaqa’ Corporation Sdn Bhd,” he said.
Dr Mohd Arifin, who is also Sabah’s Education Exco, said there are four books banned from entering the state.
“The books titled ‘Islam Hadhari’ according to the views of Ustaz Ashaari Muhammad, ‘Defending the Nabawiyyah Sunnah’ written by Abd Wahab Bustami, ‘Awaluddin Makrifatullah’ written by Haji Muhammad Seman Al-Banjari and ‘Mohd Hairi Nonchi’,” he said.
Dr Mohd Arifin said they would continue to monitor the movement of any deviant teachings, including in several districts.
“This is to ensure that it does not happen and develop in Sabah because there are several districts that have also been detected.
“Although there are not many, it is still under our monitoring radar because some have already been charged,” he said.
