Kota Kinabalu: A total of 175 contingents will participate in this year’s National Day celebration parade.
Chief Secretariat of the Main Committee for the 2024 National Day Sabah Day Celebration, Dayang Selha Ibrahim, said the contingents would comprise federal ministries, State, schools, non-governmental organisations and others.
This year’s participation is more compared to last year’s 125 contingents.
“Many interesting events and programmes have been prepared for the Aug 31 celebration, including parades. The difference is that we will have a surprise this year.

“For Sabah Day, we have a separate programme on the night of Aug 31 at Padang Merdeka such as concerts, decorated floats under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry.
“We hope this year’s National Day Sabah Day celebration will be lively. The public are invited to enliven the 2024 National Day Sabah Day celebration.
“Let’s spread the word to everyone to come, bring relatives and children who have never seen how lively the National Day Sabah Day celebration is on Aug 31.
“I hope the celebration will further unite the multi-racial community in Sabah,” she told the media after an interview session for Kupi-Kupi FM’s “Morning Kinabalu” segment with DJ Niz and Felix Agus.
Dayang Selha, also the State Finance Ministry’s Under Secretary of the Public Agency Monitoring and Investment Division, said the Ministry has been appointed as the organiser for the 2024 National Day Sabah Day celebration.
“This is the second time the Ministry of Finance is organising National Day. We are grateful and accept this challenge.
“The Main Committee is under the leadership of Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun who is also the chairman of the Committee. With his support and guidance, we have received cooperation from all committees from ministries and departments, ensuring the smooth running of this year’s National Day Sabah Day celebration,” she said.
Also present were Sabah Information Department’s Chief Assistant Director of the Media and Corporate Communications Division, Dr Diana Dominic, and Chief Assistant Director of the Secretariat Division, Siti Mariam Aziz.
