Mid-Autumn Festival has always been a season for indulgence, celebration and above all, togetherness. In Singapore, it means lantern-lit evenings, gatherings with loved ones and the ritual exchange of mooncakes. While the recent years has seen an explosion of innovative snowskin flavours, the baked mooncake remains the festival’s most enduring icon.

With Mid-Autumn Festival coming up on October 6, hotels and restaurants have already begun dreaming up classic and innovative renditions of this traditional baked treat. This year, we see restaurants like one-Michelin-star Candlenut debut their first mooncake collection. Innovative creations are in the spotlight Shangri-La Singapore, with Origin Bar’s mooncake set drawing inspiration from the bar’s newest menu. For the purists, the classic lotus seed paste and salted egg yolk mooncake continues to be a staple, available alongside unique creations.

Not only are these hotels and restaurants dreaming up unique treats, but they have also elevated the way these mooncakes are presented. For one, Andaz Singapore’s Signature Tea Mooncakes collection is presented in a vibrant box inspired by the Year of the Snake, Chang’e, and the hotel’s architecture. Four Seasons Hotel Singapore’s collection is housed in a bamboo box and encased in a beautifully embroidered tote bag, complete with traditional Chinese floral details.

Glowing brightly this Mid-Autumn Festival is Marina Bay Sands’ mooncake selections. Encased in a striking, full moon-inspired box, available in either Moondance Yellow or Twilight Pink, custom colours created for Marina Bay Sands, are four handcrafted baked mooncakes and a matching cutlery set. 

Executive Chef Hoi Kuok I blends tradition with innovation for this year’s new signature flavour, Torch Ginger Blossom with Double Yolk, influenced by the iconic local dish Rojak, to highlight the hero ingredient Torch Ginger. 

Completing the range are the savoury Mochi with Aged Radish (a nod to classic breakfast rice cake dish chwee kueh), Red Date and Goji Berry with Melon Seed, and Coconut Pandan with Gula Melaka and Blended Yolk. 

Marina Bay Sands’ mooncakes are available for pre-order from now until 3 October, with collection from 8 September to 6 October at the Mid-Autumn Booth, located at Origin + Bloom, Hotel Tower 3 Lobby. ‘Decadence in Bloom’ happens over at Resorts World Sentosa. For baked mooncakes, Feng Shui Inn’s refined confections consist of bites with flaky crust that uphold tradition while exercising creativity. 

New flavours include the 15-Year Sun-Dried Mandarin Orange Peel with Red Bean Paste, delectable Chicken Bak Kwa with Macadamia Nut and Assorted Nuts, and gently-spiced Bentong Ginger Juice with Milk Custard. 

This 2025 collection, which pays homage to SG60, is presented in sophisticated gift boxes with orchid decorations and a custom tote that exudes taste and classic elegance.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Andaz Singapore’s 5 on 25 has curated the Signature Tea Mooncakes collection. Back by popular demand, the latest mooncake collection features signature favourites like the Red Date Jubilee alongside new additions like the Pandan Jade that features creamy coconut and fragrant pandan. 

The mooncakes are presented in a stunning box inspired by the hotel’s architecture and its surrounding neighbourhood and artistic spirit. On the box, you’ll also see illustrated nods to the two curated art pieces found in the property by artist André Mendes. 

The Signature Tea Mooncakes collection is priced at S$93 nett. A 25 per cent discount is available when purchased from now until October 6. Orders can be placed online through the Andaz Online Shop.

Find classic baked mooncakes alongside new creations in The Fullerton Hotel Singapore’s latest The Fullerton Baked Classics Gift Set. Its Low Sugar Mung Bean with Custard Baked Mooncake makes its debut and features a golden custard centre that’s wrapped in earthy mung bean paste. The Pine Garden’s mooncakes are made from hand and crafted with wooden moulds. On the menu, find an extensive selection of traditional baked and snow skin mooncakes.

Beyond traditional flavours like the Baked Skin Assorted Nuts (S$21.20) and White Lotus Seed Paste with 2 Yolks (S$21.70), find unique flavours like The Baked Skin Pandan Coconut Dodol (S$21.60) which pairs aromatic pandan lotus paste with a chewy coconut dodol centre. Five of Asia’s most celebrated chefs, including Restaurant Born’s chef Zor Tan, Sühring’s chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring, Potong’s chef Pichaya “Pam”, Kyo Roll En’s chef Dej Kewkacha and Le Du’s chef Ton, have come together to dream up a limited-edition mooncake collaboration.

This year, Candlenut has curated its first mooncake collection. The Candlenut Bespoke Tea Mooncake sees traditional baked mooncakes with a lotus paste that’s infused with the one-Michelin-starred restaurant’s signature tea blend of jasmine, pandan, lemongrass and oolong. The mooncake is moulded with motifs inspired by traditional Peranakan tiles and presented in a sleek Tok Panjang-inspired box.

TungLok’s latest mooncake collection pays tribute to SG60. The TungLok Four Seasons features a selection of four mooncakes with both classic and innovative flavours. Its mooncakes see ricch lotus paste crafted from 100 per cent natural handpicked lotuus seeds and paked with 100 per cent pure peanut oil. 

You’ll want to try the Sea Salt, Black Sesame with Pistachios and Chestnut mooncake, a creative and nutty take on the traditional dessert. The set also features more traditional flavours like the Egg Yolk and White Lotus, and classic Mixed Nuts. The mooncakes come in an elegant lavender-toned box dotted with orchid blooms.

Shangri-La Singapore’s Origin Bar Mid-Autumn Gift Set (S$128) comprises six mini mooncake creations that draw inspiration from the bar’s newly launched POV menu. Look forward to treats crafted after two of the bar’s signature concoctions, the spicy and creamy Carrot Cake and the velvety Tea-ramisu.

Those looking for more traditional flavours can opt for the Shang Palace Red Date Pumpkin Seed with Bird’s Nest Mooncakes. Dreamed up by Shang Palace’s executive Chinese chef Daniel Cheung, this creation has a centre filled with red date paste, pumpkin seeds and bird’s nest.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay, Singapore’s Peach Blossoms has unveiled its Moonlit Treasures collection.

Dreamed up by executive Chinese chef Edward Chong, the latest collection puts the spotlight on both traditional and innovative flavours. The Black Sesame with Purple Sweet Potato and Walnut is a new addition that’s nutty, rich and earthy. The popular Charcoal Peach Long Jing with Okinawa Brown Sugar Mochi returns this year, offering floral notes of peach oolong tea that’s balanced with sweet and chewy brown sugar mochi.

The Black Pearl

Chinese fine-dining establishment The Black Pearl celebrates its first Mid-Autumn Festival since opening with two chic mooncake collections: Pearl Signature Box and Pearl Luxe Limited-Edition Box. 

The former is a luxurious suede box inspired by the graceful curve of a full moon, reminiscent of a handbag with floral embroidery elements. Inside are four distinctive flavours that can satisfy a discerning palate: Yuzu with Single Yolk, Brown Sugar Red Dates Ginger Tea Longan Paste, Rose Lychee Tea and White Peach Longjing Tea. 

Otherwise, a decadent surprise awaits as two pairs in the Pearl Luxe Limited-Edition Box – Hong Kong Style Custard Baked Mooncake in charcoal crust dusted with gold and Traditional Baked Double Yolk in the same charcoal shell. With only 88 sets available, the mooncakes are presented in a layered suede-lined box that unfolds like a jewel chest and includes a bespoke cutlery set.

Familiar classics star alongside creative new flavours for the baked mooncakes from Jiang-nan Chun at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. Created by Dim Sum Chef Hong Man Wai, this year’s additions include the Tropical Lychee Longan with White Lotus and Oolong Tea, Charcoal Black Sesame with Mochi, and Silver Lotus Paste with Walnuts and Figs. Have them all, with the traditional Silver Lotus Paste with Double Yolk, via the Four Seasons Medley that assembles them as a quartet. 

With sustainability in mind, these handcrafted mooncakes are presented in a biodegradable two-tiered bamboo box made from sustainable bamboo. Furthermore, the entire set is cradled in a cream-toned embroidered tote bag with intricate stitch detailing of traditional Chinese florals, which doubles as an exquisite carrier to use beyond Mid-Autumn celebrations.  

 The Four Seasons Medley (one piece per flavour) is priced at S$98 per set. Modern meets nostalgia for Mandarin Oriental, Singapore’s baked mooncake delights. Named as the Four Treasures, this traditional baked mooncake set comprises the classic White Lotus Paste with Single and Double yolks (one each), alongside two novel flavours – a chewy Mochi blanketed by a rich and nutty Black Sesame Paste, and a fruity combination of Lychee and Longan. There’s also an option for a duo mooncake of classic white lotus paste with a single yolk and mochi with black sesame paste.

One-Michelin-star establishment Shisen Hanten by Chef Kentaro has created a collection of time-honoured mooncakes that meld classic and contemporary. Available in a set of four, new this year is the tea-infused Szechwan Harmony, which blends aged pu’er, roasted oolong, and chrysanthemum.

Cedric Grolet Singapore

Renowned French pastry chef Cedric Grolet and executive chef Diego Jesus Alonso apply French artistry to their variation of the Chinese confection that’s enjoyed every Mid-Autumn festival. 

This year’s collection sees the addition of four traditional baked mooncake flavours alongside the five signature Grolet chocolate-shell creations introduced last year.
