180 fighters to compete in Sabah Boxing Championship

Kota Kinabalu: Some 180 boxers throughout the State are set to participate in the 71st Sabah State-wide Boxing Championship at the Damai Multi-Purpose Hall, here from April 20-25.

Sabah Boxing Association president Datuk Orlando Harumal said the categories for both males and females to be competed are Elite 19-40 year-old (48kg-92+kg), Youth 17-18 (48kg-92+kg), Junior 15-16 and Talent 13-14.

According to him, the six-day competition will serve as a platform to select athletes to represent the State at the Malaysia Cup Boxing Championship scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur in July or August.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin has been invited to officiate the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony by Mayor Dato’ Sri Sabin Samitah.
