A local special judicial court convicted two drug peddlers and sentenced them to imprisonment along with a fine under the NDPS Act on Monday. The special court convicted Deepak Kumar, a resident of Bhadroya village in Nurpur, and awarded him three years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000.

SP, Nurpur, Kulbhushan Verma said the convict had been booked under various sections of the NDPS Act in 2017.

Also, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nurpur, convicted Ramesh Chand, alias Totu, a resident of Khadol village (Nurpur), and sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The Nurpur police had arrested him in October 2017 with contraband.
