
Two men were killed after a speeding car allegedly rammed into their motorcycle from behind near Bhajanpura Metro Station in northeast Delhi during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, police said.
According to police, information about the accident was received from Bhajanpura Metro Station under the jurisdiction of Khajuri Khas Police Station.
When the police team reached the spot, they found a Bullet motorcycle and a car involved in the crash, a senior police officer said.
During enquiry, it was found that the car had allegedly hit the motorcycle from behind, leaving both riders critically injured, he said. The victims were shifted to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by a PCR van, where doctors declared them brought dead, the police said.
The deceased were identified as Rohit, 31, and Hemant, 33, both residents of Karawal Nagar in northeast Delhi.
Police said a case has been registered under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Khajuri Khas Police Station.
“A forensic team examined the accident spot and collected evidence from the scene. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. The accused driver, identified as Himanshu, 27, has been arrested and the offending vehicle seized,” said the police officer.
Further investigation into the accident is under way to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the accident, he added.
