KOTA KINABALU: Police crippled a drug syndicate with the arrest of four locals and the seizure of 20.7kg ketamine worth RM1.03 million during a raid on a courier premises in Kepayan on Sept 4.
State Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the drugs, disguised in tea packets, were found in two sacks at the premises.
The suspects – a manager, clerk, company director and his wife – were later detained, with luxury cars and valuables worth RM3.18 million also seized, bringing the total haul to RM4.2 million.
Only one suspect tested positive for drugs. All four are remanded until Sept 11 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment.
Jauteh said the syndicate smuggled drugs through legal air cargo routes, concealed with everyday items. He urged public cooperation in combating drug trafficking.
In a separate case, he said a 45-year-old man was arrested in Papar for allegedly inciting the public via TikTok to storm government offices.
“The individual was picked up and will be investigated to determine his motives. We take such incitement seriously,” he said.
