
Kota Kinabalu: A 20-year-old labourer was charged in the Sessions Court here with committing physical sexual assault against a teenage girl.
Undocumented Norsyam Mukim pleaded guilty before High Court Deputy Registrar Syarifuddin Abdul Rasa, who sat as Sessions Court Judge, to committing the crime on the 14-year-old girl between 8pm and 8.30pm on Jan 6, this year at a housing area in Telipok, Tuaran
The charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The prosecution applied for the facts and sentencing to be deferred to another date and objected bail as the accused has no valid documents.

Dorine W. Longkudai admitted before Syarifuddin, who sat as a magistrate, to having five illegal lottery tickets at 2.15pm on Jan 15 in Kg Bahang, Penampang.
The court heard from the prosecution that the police raided the premises and a handphone, mobile printer and RM65 cash were seized from Dorine.
Duty counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, representing Dorine, requested leniency as she is married with two children.
Inspector Suzie S.K. prosecuting applied for an adequate sentence.
Dorine was charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act, which carries a jail term of up to six months, or fine of up to RM3,000, or both, on conviction.
