A Honda motorcycle collided with a Toyota Estima MPV at the Simpang Empat Felda Ulu Tebrau’s traffic light in Ulu Tiram, Johor, after the rider ran the red light.

Both victims riding on the motorcycle, who were siblings, died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries to their heads. The younger brother and the elder sister were 15 and 20 years old, respectively.

In an official statement by PDRM in Johor, the accident happened on Sunday night (April 20) around 9:50 PM, when the 40-year-old Toyota Estima driver couldn’t evade the motorcyclists who ran the red light. The siblings were thrown onto the opposite road after getting hit by the MPV.

PDRM is investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act 1987.

The elder sister was supposed to get engaged this year

Mohd. Dzulfitri A. Halim, 21, told Kosmo that he was supposed to get engaged at the end of this year with Nuraisyah Amalin Zaibur, the 20-year-old victim, who was on the passenger seat of the motorcycle.

He last met Nuraisyah a day before the accident.

Dzulfitri said he had known Nuraisyah since he was in Form 3, and both got serious about the relationship in 2018 after following a school trip.

“We had known each other for about 7 years, and we know each other’s families.”

“I spoke to his family about the engagement, but my mum advised me to pay off my motorcycle loan before getting engaged. We planned to get engaged later this year, but she left first.”

Dzulfitri also said that he was informed about the accident by a friend, and he did not know his late girlfriend was out on a motorcycle, as he thought she went to an Aidilfitri Open House with a car.

The late Nuraisyah, the eldest of four siblings, was awaiting her Malaysian Higher Certificate of Education (STPM) results. While waiting for the results, Nuraisyah had only been working for two weeks as an operator at a factory in Desa Cemerlang.
