PENAMPANG MP Datuk Ewon Benedick thanked Hajiji for surveying the disaster zones to ensure swift recovery for road user safety and convenience.

Ewon also mobilised his parliamentary service centre staff to distribute food baskets, assist in flood clean-up efforts and arrange excavator services for debris removal in affected villages.

He distributed water pumps to village development committees in Kampung Dungkahang, Kampung Penampang Proper and Kampung Tuavon for rotational use in clearing mud from flood-damaged homes.

He said 21 public and community buildings in Penampang can now be designated as relief centres during disasters, compared to previously only having the Sabah Cultural Centre.

Ewon said he informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim about the floods and landslides during Friday’s MA63 Implementation Action Council meeting in Kuching.

He has also proposed Rumah Mesra SMJ housing allocations to rebuild or repair severely damaged homes.

Additionally, Ewon discussed the need for Penampang flood mitigation packages 2 and 4 with the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, to complement ongoing packages 1 and 3.
